Youth Services

There are 3 things you can depend on every summer in St Louis: death, taxes, and downtown business owners complaining about teenagers being Downtown.

The Youth of St Louis are facing serious barriers to thriving and success, as Alderwoman of the 3rd Ward, I would:

  • Permanently expand the hours of all St Louis Community Centers, prioritizing the centers in the neighborhoods with high levels of poverty, crime, and gun violence.

  • Work with the Mayor’s administration and Budget Committee to increase funding for the SLATE Youth jobs program so that more youth can be accepted in the summer program and expand the program to year-round for youth ages 16-19.

  • Work with SLPS to implement PILOT programs that fund youth-determined participatory budget initiatives.

  • Fund and help implement the Memorial Community Resource Hub with transitional Housing for unhoused, housing insecure, and at-risk LGBTQIA+ youth, including supportive wrap-around services.
